Rock and country legend Jerry Lee Lewis passed away at his home in Desoto County, Mississippi, today of natural causes. His wife Judith was by his side when he died and according to the statement Lewis "told her, in his final days, that he welcomed the hereafter, and that he was not afraid".

Jerry Lee Lewis was one of the pioneers of the 1950s rock era and a world-renowned showman nicknamed 'The Killer" for his incredible performances that drove fans wild. In addition to his massive rock hits like 'Great Balls of Fire' and 'Whole Lot of Shakin' Going On', Lewis also crossed over to country with classics like 'What Made Milwaukee Famous', 'Once More with Feeling' and 'Middle Aged Crazy'.

In lieu of flowers the family requested donations be made in Lewis' honor to the Arthritis Foundation of MusiCares.
