Tech Lady Raider Golf

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech head coach JoJo Robertson will have a pair of new faces in her lineup Monday when she opens her 13th season leading the Red Raiders at the Sam Golden Invitational hosted by North Texas.

Robertson will send two freshmen out at the Wildhorse Golf Club in Denton as Chiara Horder and Chelsea Romas will make their Red Raider debut alongside a lineup consisting of fifth-year senior Amy Taylor, sophomore Gala Dumez and junior Anna Dong. Horder, a native of Baldham, Germany, and Romas, a Coppell product, both arrived at Texas Tech earlier this summer.

The two-day, 54-hole tournament begins at 8:30 a.m. Monday, pitting the Red Raiders against a competitive field that includes Big 12 foes TCU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Kansas State. The field features 10 teams that played in an NCAA Regional this past May.

The Red Raiders are coming off their 10th regional appearance under Robertson this past spring as Texas Tech fell just shy of advancing out of the NCAA Louisville Regional. The 10 regional trips are the most for a head coach in program history as Texas Tech has made the postseason in all but one of Robertson's seasons where the tournament was held.

The trio of Taylor, Dumez and Dong were all in Louisville for the Red Raiders this spring, giving Texas Tech plenty of experience to lean on this season. Dumez finished tied for 19th at the regional, wrapping a strong back end of the season where she recoded five top-25 finishes and three top-10 performances, which included medalist honors at the Big 12 Championships in April.

While plenty of experience does return, Texas Tech will have to replace the production of Sofia Garcia, who closed her storied career as Texas Tech's career leader for individual victories and scoring average. Garcia is currently playing on the Symetra Tour after starting her professional career this summer.
