Lubbock Police new Public Information Officer
(LUBBOCK, TX) – Allison Matherly has spent the past 8 years building community and relationships as the coordinator of digital engagement at Texas Tech University, serving as the voice of the university on social media and overseeing the emergency notification system, TechAlert!. Prior to her current role, she managed the university’s news site, Texas Tech Today, and helped the university pioneer the use of social media in media relations.
In addition, Allison teaches Digital Public Relations as an adjunct instructor in the College of Media & Communication. She is a founding board member and past president for the West Texas chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, acts as marketing chair for the Lubbock Area United Way, is a member of the Junior League of Lubbock, and served for six years as a board member, including as secretary, for the Volunteer Center of Lubbock.
Allison received her Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations in 2010 and her Master of Arts in Mass Communication in 2016, both from Texas Tech. Her thesis focused on the impact of social media on social identity and university satisfaction. She is a native of Sugar Land, Texas, and enjoys spending time with her husband, Kris, and their five pets.
